The New Chalet Club (NCC) celebrates the works of Elinor M. Brent-Dyer (often referred to as EBD), in particular the Chalet School (CS) series, and extends a cordial invitation to you to join the club:

• Members receive journals with articles about Chalet School (CS) characters, plots and locations. It is written and produced by members for members

• Some members meet up locally to discuss their favourite books and characters, enjoying quizzes, outings and, of course, Chalet School (CS) food. A list of the location of these groups can be found in the back of the journals

• National events take place like the Annual General Meeting (AGM) when members of the society get together from all over. Old friends are greeted, and new friends made welcome in true Chalet School (CS) style. On occasion, the club has arranged a trip overseas to somewhere featured in the books

Club history

• The NCC began in 1995 and has an elected committee and a constitution. A ballot was held to choose the club's name. The name is a logical extension of The Chalet Club, which Elinor M. Brent-Dyer (EBD) herself ran between 1959 and her death in 1969

The School at the Chalet Centenary 

• 2025 is the centenary of the publication of The School at the Chalet. We are celebrating with a trip to Pertisau am Achensee, the model for EBD's Briesau am Tiernsee.  Members on the trip are taking copies of the Tyrol based books to donate to the various hotels which, hopefully, will introduce new readers to the series. Each donated book will have a bookplate explaining the connection to the area. For the trip, we have produced a leaflet, 'A Guide to Elinor Brent-Dyer's Tiernsee' and a digitization of our 1997 supplement 'Around the Achensee: In Search of Elinor M. Brent-Dyer's Chalet School'.
